How our story began
Our story begins with the dream of the founder of God Is Well, Guido Buitenhuis. For many years, Guido had thought that who would not want to enjoy Spanish life during the holidays in a charming hostel.
After searching various locations in Spain, Guido finally decides that Peñiscola would be the perfect place for his Hostal.
Right in the center of the old town, 20 meters from the entrance to the famous Papa Luna Castle and the Church, Guido finds a house that has been uninhabited for more than 150 years.
The process to obtain the reconstruction licenses was very complicated due to the location of the house due to its proximity to the Castle. But finally, Guido gets all the permits and starts to rebuild the house. After 3 years of work, the hostel was ready to open its doors.
When you visit our house you can really see that everything has been executed with passion and love. The same love and attention that Guido has offered to his clients for many years. After 10 years dedicated to God Is Well, Guido makes the decision to start a new project with his other great passion, Coffee. At this moment, we, Miia Tyynelä and Xavier Grunder, enter the story.
Born into a family of hoteliers in Crans-Montana (Switzerland) and graduated from the hotel school in Geneva, my dream has always been to have my own establishment. Looking for places on the Valencian coast for quite some time, my surprise was when I saw that Dios está bien was on the market. I couldn’t believe it, I visited this hostel with my partner a few years ago as clients and we fell in love with the house and the town of Peñiscola.
It is exactly what I had always dreamed of. Call it fate or coincidence but God Is Well was the place for us. Following in Guido’s footsteps, I will dedicate all my heart and soul to making all our clients feel at home in our hostel.
In our Espresso Bar, Guido’s famous coffees will be available and for all coffee lovers, Dios Está Bien will be the place to visit in Peñiscola.
